Orange Beach,AL
We have a large shaded back deck and we guarantee the best, smoothest and most user friendly tackle in Orange Beach!

When you step aboard Wild Orange, you'll find that we've made every effort to keep our guests comfortable and ready for an enjoyable day on the water. For those long days chasing the big ones, there's a cozy V-berth up front where tired anglers can stretch out and recharge. If you need a break or a snack, we've got a very cold airconditioned cabin—perfect for grabbing a bite and cooling off from the heat between casts .
The convenience doesn’t stop there. On board, you’ll also find a private head and shower area, ensuring that everyone can freshen up when needed—a definite plus after a salty day at sea! If you’d rather relax or share stories then come on inside with Captain Bryan and share some stories with him.
Of course, every fishing trip comes with the hope of a lot to show for it, and we’ve made sure there’s plenty of room for your success stories, too. Spacious fish boxes line both sides of the boat, so there’s room for the whole crew’s catch—no matter if it’s red snapper, grouper, or the one that got away last year.
We want everyone, especially families and young anglers, to feel right at home—comfortable, safe, and always welcome as part of our Wild Orange crew.

Fishing Tackle

The Wild Orange prides themselves on providing the finest fishing tackle available for charter fishing and one of the fastest charter boats in Orange Beach Alabama! When you step aboard any charter boat along the gulf coast of Orange Beach, AL or Gulf Shores, Alabama... You should expect to receive first treatment from a first class crew, along with a first class boat and top notch tackle. Most boats do provide first class service and most boats are reliable and well taken care of, but all boats aren't created equal. A typical charter boat normally cruises at speeds between 11-13 knots and a few at around 14-14.5 knots. However when you step aboard the Wild Orange you can always expect the best of every thing. We are fortunate to have a really fast boat that cruises at 17 knots, as well as a super fine riding boat that will not beat and bang you up on the ride out or in. Unlike most 6 passenger boats that have small back decks, we have plenty of fishing room for 6 people to fish at once and not feel crowded.
On the rod and reel side of it, most charter boats along the Alabama Gulf Coast use the rugged penn reels that are tough and hard to reel, on top of being heavy and having a really slow gear ratio (which takes a really long time to reel in) the drag system in these reels are not very smooth at all and tend to freeze up on larger fish. However when you step aboard the Wild Orange you can always expect the best of every thing.
We know that the right tackle makes all the difference, especially when you never know what’s going to bite next. That’s why we equip the Wild Orange with top-tier gear—so you never have to worry about a drag system seizing up or a reel failing just as a trophy fish puts your setup to the test. Our rods and reels are chosen to withstand the demands of deep sea fishing: smooth, reliable drag systems, lightweight construction for less fatigue, and fast gear ratios so you can get your catch to the boat efficiently. Whether we’re bottom fishing for snapper or trolling for pelagics, you can fish with confidence, knowing our tackle is up to the challenge.
The Tackle: Built for PerformanceAs far as the tackle goes, we use all top of the line, light weight Shimano SpeedMaster II conventional reels equipped on all custom rods, for our everyday use! As any serious fisherman knows, one rod will not cover all conditions or types of fishing. Fishing isn't always easy and the fish aren't always easy to catch. When the bite gets tough, we break out the ulrta light spinning tackle spooled with 20lb braid and top shotted with 30lb flouro carbon and make them bite! Below are a list of specs on the reels we use, along with a picture of what they look like.
Deep sea fishing is a big combination of trolling and bottom fishing, and that means every component is constantly challenged by salt spray and the strain of a big fish smashing a bait. Our Shimano lever drag reels are proven performers on the finest charter boats, built to withstand these harsh elements day in and day out. On every charter, we’re outfitted with a full complement of sizes—so whether we’re running 12s, 16s, 30Ws, or 50Ws, you can be confident you’ve got the right gear in your hands for anything from Red Snapper to a giant Wahoo.
Our reels don’t just look the part—they deliver, too. The lever drag system ensures a silky-smooth fight even with the toughest fish, and our gear ratios are built for fast retrieves so you spend less time winding and more time catching. Because when you’re facing the Gulf’s hardest fighting fish, you need tackle that’s up to the challenge.
Ready to see the difference first-class tackle and a first-class crew can make? Check out the reel specs and photos below, and get set for your best day on the water yet.

SHIMANO Speedmaster II 12 Conventional Reel
The extremely durable, high-performance Speedmaster II, with high maximum drag power and a smooth, ultra-wide range of drag adjustability is a fish fighting machine. It’s rigid Hagane Body prevents misalignment of moving parts under the heaviest loads. Plus, a spare drag cam is included for optimal use with monofilament lines.
The Hagane Body is made of highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium. With its weight reduced to the limit, the Hagane Body eliminates flex, warp, and distortion of the reel, allowing smooth reeling with little power loss. Furthermore, the body protects the engagement of the Hagane Gear and the Micro Module Gear System from shock, while maintaining smooth operation.
The X-Ship system enables smooth reeling even under heavy loads. Shimano’s unique mechanism for robust gear engagement uses an enlarged drive gear, optimum positioning of the pinion and drive gears and two-point support of the pinion gear whose ends are supported by bearings. Even when you are fighting very large fish, and the X-Ship system efficiently transmits the input power, enabling powerful reeling.
G Free Body - Developed to shift the reel’s centre of gravity closer to the rod. This has been achieved by moving the worm shaft oscillation mechanism from the bottom of the reel to the top.
